Remich, the pearl of the Moselle

Remich is a small touristic town located in the three-border area between Germany, France and Luxembourg. Remich is surrounded by a beautiful panorama of the wine yards, forest and the Moselle. The hotspot of the Luxemburgish wine industry, Remich is home to the national wine institute (Institut viti-vinicole) and a total of nine wine producers.

The Esplanade, a 3 km long promenade along the river Moselle is not only a place to go for a leisurely stroll but is also part of various hiking or cycling trails. An Olympic-size open-air swimming pool, various playgrounds, a miniature golf course and minicars, as well as a mobile ice rink during the cold months of the year, ensure that each visitor finds an activity which fits him throughout the different seasons of the year.

Hotels for every budget, a large selection of restaurants and inviting terraces not far from the Moselle fit everyone’s needs – in short, every desire in terms of accommodation and culinary preference should be fulfilled in Remich. Pssst: It is a hidden gem but in Remich, you get the best pizza

Wine culture

Remich lies in a valley surrounded by prestigious vineyards, like the Primerbierg and the Scheierbierg. These vineyards have the perfect location and stand for highly qualitative wines.

Do you fancy a Miseler Pättchen at one of the nine wineries in Remich?

No problem! The offer is as vast as the taste of the wine. The Caves St. Martin has the only stone carved cellar in the region. They also organize guided tours through their impressive cellar. The Domaine Desom with its pavilion is directly located on the banks of the river. The Caves Krier Frères and the Domaine Mathis Bastian, which are located in the upper part of Remich, offer stunning views over the city and the neighboring areas. Idyllic and fabulous gardens can be found at Domaine Laurent & Rita Kox and the Domaine Claude Bentz. Benoît Koxs’ wine cellar dates back to the 17^th century and is well known in the Moselle area for his excellent wines but also for his legendary parties, which take place every now and then. Caves Kox-Plyta is an absolute insider tip and we are always looking forward to enjoy the fine drops from their cellar.

As varied and unique as the individual cellars are, as different are the wines, which can be tested at the different wineries (on request).

Nature

Vineyards, forests, parks, water or historical alleyways – Remich has it all. It is the ideal location for hiking or to explore the area on a bike. Not only the landscape makes the area unique but also the short distances to Schengen, Grevenmacher and even Trier.

You don't own a bicycle? Rent a bike at the ground floor of the Centre visit Remich from mid-March until October. You can rent trekking bikes, e-bikes (on request) and tricycles (on request), and you can rent them even for a longer period like a couple of days.

You want to explore the Moselle region in a less sportif and a more relaxed way? Then a boat trip is the ideal activity for you. Navitours and the Entente offer throughout the year different boat excursions. The slogan here: Relax on one of the vessels with an excellent glass of wine while you enjoy the magnificent scenery passing by.

Culture

Become a contemporary witness of the eventful history of the city by visiting the Nicolas gate or the tower of the church, which date back to the medieval century. The tower used to be part of the fortress, which protected Remich during that time.

Historical streets like the Neie Wee, the Fëschergaass or “um Hondhannen” story tell the history of the Moselle city. Take a walk through Remich and pass several sculptures and fountains. All these monuments express their own history and have their own significance. The most famous ones, are undoubtfully the Bacchus fountain located on the Esplanade, an homage towards the Greek God of wine and the “Wäschfraen”, the three washing ladies located on the Place Kons (although gossiper can still be found everywhere nowadays).

Leisure activities

Remich offers leisure activities for everyone, it does not matter if you visit Remich by yourself, with your family or with friends and colleagues. One of the most popular attractions for children are the miniature golf and the minicars, the various playgrounds and the mobile trampoline located on the Esplanade. Sport enthusiasts benefit during the warm months of the year from a large number of activities ranging from an open-air swimming pool to the skate and parkour facilities and the boule courts. From end of November to end of January, a mobile ice rink is open to the public in Remich.

Events

A large number of events are organized throughout the year in Remich ranging from international sporting events such as the Ironman or the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg to more themed events like the medieval market, automn market, flea markets or the Christmas market. In addition to the aforementioned events, the annually organized flea market “Bacchusfescht” or cultural events such as the traditional Crémant a Kultur Festival attract a large number of visitors every year to the charming city located on the shore of the Moselle river. Apart from large scale events, the City of Remich preserves their traditions. Every year on Ash Wednesday the “Stréimännchen” is burned and on “Halleffaaschten” the traditional cavalcade takes place.

As a main tourist destination in the Moselle valley, Remich offers hotels and restaurants for every taste and budget.

Should it be Italian, Italian-Peruvian, Asian or maybe a traditional Friture? The pearl of the Moselle offers a large variety of national and international cuisines. Nobody will leave hungry.

Campers find a dedicated parking in a central location near Moselle. The Camp car parking is open all year around, 7/7 and 24/24.

Centre visit Remich

The Centre visit Remich, designed by the local architect François Valentiny, is located on the banks of the Moselle river. On the ground floor of the building, you will find the tourist info, ticket offices of Navitours, Marie-Astrid and Rent a Bike. The rental of bicycles is possible from mid-March until the end of October.
