Former city of the Dukes of Lorraine, Sierck nestles between 2 hills in a wide meander of the Moselle. In the old alleys, you can admire many houses in Renaissance style. Situated on a rocky promontory overlooking the town, the castle of the Dukes of Lorraine is one of the only 11th century forts in Eastern France whose walls, casemates, massive towers with shooting holes and their underground passages are still in an imposing state.  It is also in Sierck that the Chapel of Marienfloss is located, the place where the Rosary was created in 1414 by Marguerite of Bavaria on the initiative of her confessor Adolphe of Essen and Dominic the Carthusian.
